ABOUT

Re-imagining and taking inspirations from Tatsumi Hijikata’s Hosotan, Yamazaki explores multi-dimensionality of darkness of body. From an abandoned, aging or marginalized body to slimy, marshy and alien-like beings, Shadows Creep In From One-foot Under A Table dives into a journey of opening up the depth of body of darkness.

In conjunction with the performance, a WIP showing of excerpted materials and Yamazaki’s Artist Talk will be held at Dance Base Yokohama (DaBY) on December 18, 2023 as part of YPAM 2023.

Dance Teleportation (2020)

Commissioned and presented by Dance Base Yokohama (Japan)

ABOUT

Dance Teleportation: Choreography Beyond Space and Time, with floating wprds and bodies is a new choreographic method and installation that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic when Yamazaki and dancers could not physically get together to rehearse. Based on Yamazaki's languaged-based choreography, each dancer delivered their "dance" using multiple media sources.

*The exhibition is on until September 13, 2020 at Dance Base Yokohama (DaBY)
